The five letters drawn in the Club Errigal Alphalot tonight, Monday 24th August were A D G O R. There were three match four winners who collected £70 each-Adrian Goodwin, Paddy Gormley and Gerard McCann. The jackpot stands at £11,000 with the next draw next Tuesday, 1st September.

All members are requested to keep free Friday 11th September for our social night in Kellys Inn when our club fundraiser for the coming season will be launched.

Commiserations to the Tyrone seniors on their desperately unlucky attempt to defeat the reigning All Ireland champions, Kerry, at headquarters yesterday. It's now back to domestic action and following our two point victory over Strabane in the reserve quarter final last Friday evening, we play Dromore on Thursday evening at Fintona in the championship semi final. Throw in 7.00pm. Then in the ACL on Sunday our reserves and seniors travel to play Moy. Throw in times 2.15pm and 3.45pm. Later on Sunday evening our juniors and reserves entertain Beragh at Dunmoyle. Throw in times 5.45pm and 7.15pm.

At youth level our U-16 boys are scheduled to play Dromore at Dunmoyle this Thursday evening. Throw in 7.15pm. Their next league game is next Monday evening, 31st August when they travel to play Newtownstewart with a 7.00pm throw in.

Youth coaching for boys and girls returns to Dunmoyle this Thursday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm. Details of forthcoming U-10 blitzs and U-12 tournaments will be given at these weekly coaching sessions. A word of appreciation must go to Kelly Marie McRory and indeed to all the coaches involved in the very enjoyable and extremely successful summer camp held in Dunmoyle recently. Thanks also to Caitriona McCaffrey for her considerable help and assistance throughout the week.

Our senior ladies championship semi final with Carrickmore was abandoned last Saturday due to bad light and after a bad injury sustained by Shannon Quinn. Hopefully Shannon gets back on track in the near future. The replayed encounter takes place in Garvaghey this Wednesday evening at 7.00pm.

This Saturday's a busy day for the ladies. Our U-16 girls play Aodh Ruadh in the league at 1.00pm in Dunmoyle. Our U-12 girls have a blitz in Moy at 10.30am-the bus will leave from Ballygawley chapel at 9.30am. Then on Saturday evening our BBQ fundraiser for our successful minor girls team takes place in Tailors House. Food will be served from 8.30pm to 10.00pm and music afterwards by Joe Farrell. Admission for adults £10 and children £5, so please come along to support.

On a more poignant note, events over the past week paled into insignificance when news filtered through of the untimely passing of our former Club President, Matt McClean. A player of great distinction, committee member for many years, longstanding gateman down at that turnstile at the road, Matt was bestowed the ultimate honour when he was elected president of the club in recent times, an honour he so richly deserved. Never afraid to offer a critical analysis when the occasion demanded, Matt was equally adept at offering ferocious support and encouragement to all our representatives, and very proud of our many achievements, adult and youth, male and female, both on and off the field. However Matt was never more proud than when we made that historic breakthrough in 1993, and when we were descending onto the Edendork pitch and congratulating each other and the players, Matt could be heard to gleefully exclaim, "mighty stuff, mighty stuff." And who could argue with that. To Matt's daughter Roisin and to the McClean family, Errigal Ciaran GAC extend sincere sympathies on the sad passing of a true, committed and one hundred per cent Gael. Ar dheis De go raidh a anam uasal.
